Pokémon Stadium was the first game to hit the Nintendo 64. With its 3D graphics, it led many Pokémon players to purchasing this game. What was so enticing was the fact that you could now battle your Pokémon in many different challenging cups. Along with tournament play, there is the addition of a Gym Leader Castle. Here you battle your way to the top and face the champion as usual. Along with battles, there is an option for Free Battle where you can select anything you want and have a free-for-all battle with your Pokemon against an opponent or a friend. Mini-games were also introduced in this game, and would keep you playing for hours. One of the most useful options in the game is the Game Boy Tower. With this, you can link up your Game Boy game to the Nintendo 64 and play your Red/Blue/Yellow at up to three times the normal speed, which was great for fast training.
